The Dominica Boxing Association (DBA) underwent a rigorous application process to secure membership in World Boxing, ensuring adherence to the organization’s standards and principles. DBA President, Job Joseph, expressed optimism about the affiliation, stating that it opens new avenues for Dominican boxers to participate in international competitions and training programs. He emphasized that this membership aligns with the DBA’s mission to elevate the sport’s profile locally and provide athletes with greater exposure.
World Boxing, established in April 2023, aims to uphold the integrity of boxing worldwide. By February 2025, it had expanded its membership to include 78 national federations, reflecting a growing consensus for change within the sport’s governance. The organization’s commitment to transparency and athlete welfare has attracted countries seeking a more accountable governing body for boxing.
Dominica’s affiliation with World Boxing is expected to enhance the development of boxing on the island.
