Dominica to Present 2024-2025 People-Centered Budget
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit announced that the 2024-2025 National Budget address will be presented on July 26, 2024, by Minister for Finance, Economic Development, Climate Resilience, and Social Security, Dr. Irving McIntyre. The budget is expected to be people-centered, focusing on the development of citizens and the country, and addressing the current global economic realities.
The budget will emphasize economic activity stimulation, employment creation, and long-term administrative efficiency. It will also outline a new structure for the nursing service in Dominica, creating new positions to allow for upward mobility and recognition of specialized training.
The Dominica Government has substantially invested in social safety nets and productive sectors to counteract economic shocks and ensure job stability. Despite global challenges, the administration aims to consolidate past developments and outline measures to stimulate economic growth and efficiency further.
Prime Minister Skerrit expressed confidence that the budget will benefit every citizen, incorporating recommendations from recent consultations. The budget presentation comes as Dominica continues its efforts to build climate resilience and advocate for comprehensive climate financing reform.
