Dominican Students Excel in Spring 2024 Semester at Western Illinois University
Fourteen Dominican students earned a place on the dean’s list at Western Illinois University for the Spring 2024 semester. The undergraduate students, part of a growing cohort at the University, all earned a grade point average (GPA) of 3.6. Several of the students earned a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester.

Dominican and other Caribbean students in the growing regional cohort continue to excel academically. More than 50 students from the sub-region were placed on the Spring ‘24 Dean’s List.
“The University sees the Caribbean as its primary area for building a successful international undergraduate program,” University Provost Mark Mossman said. He noted the positive reports from the professors on their outstanding dedication to academics.
Dominican students typically begin their studies online before completing on campus in the United States. WIU Scholarships are based on local college or Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) achievement and cover a high percentage of tuition for strong students. Top students can compete for the International Presidential Scholarship which provides a full tuition scholarship.
Dr. Randy Glean, Associate Vice President of Global Studies at WIU, along with other university officials, will speak about study and scholarship opportunities to students at Dominica State College on Monday, June 17, at 1000 a.m. and other prospective students at the Public Service Union at 5:00 p.m.
