DPSU Addresses Concerns at Dominica China Friendship Hospital and Dominica State College
The Dominica Public Service Union has taken a decision to meet with its members at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital and the Dominica State College as early as next week. This meeting will be held prior to the holding of a press conference where the union will outline to the media many areas of concerns relating to deteriorating terms and conditions of employment at both institutions.
At the Dominica China Friendship Hospital medical professionals are being issued 6 months contract without any provision for gratuity. Seconded Officers are not confirmed in the positions which they held before moving to the College regardless of how long they were acting in the Public Service. The same applies to other staff.
At the Dominica State College the physical structure there remains unsuitable for the holding of classes. A new Board of Governors has not been appointed. The position of President has not been filled. These and other issues all of which the union has written about necessitate the holding of these meetings which are planned for next week.
Following the meetings the union along with its members will take any measure deems necessary to have the issues addressed seeing that all efforts to amicably have them resolved have been exhausted.
