DSC are winners of the Junior Achievement Dominica and Scotiabank Innovation Camp 2019

DSC emerged winners of the Junior Achievement (JA) Dominica and Scotiabank Innovation Camp 2019.

This camp forms part of the Road to Success initiative sponsored by Scotiabank International. Four School Teams were given the task to find innovative solutions to challenges that emerge in the world of finance and business.

Junior Achievement Dominica thanks Scotiabank Dominica for its sponsorship of Innovation Camp 2019.

The competition event was held on Thursday 11th April at the Dominica Public Service Union hall. Four School Teams were tasked with producing concepts to improve banking as well as making it easier for more people to access banking services.

The Dominica State College team won the competition while Convent High School team emerged Runner-up. The Dominica Grammar School team and Isaiah Thomas Secondary School team were awarded for their participation.

The teams brought along their fellow students as supporters.

These supporters were treated to educational games centered on making informed decisions when it comes to entrepreneurial development, workplace readiness and wise financial management.

Executive Director of Junior Achievement highlighted the work of Junior Achievement as well as some of its new programmes including the online based Economics For Success programme. Scotiabank Dominica’s representative Reina Letang advised the students to ensure budgeting is a priority in their personal development.

Junior Achievement Dominica is grateful for the support of all its partners in making Innovation Camp 2019 a success, including the Dominica State College, Convent High School, Isaiah Thomas Secondary School, Dominica Grammar School, Youth Development Division and its National 4H Programme, National Youth Council of Dominica (NYCD) Executive member and Dominica’s Caricom Youth Ambassador, Annel Lewis, Dominica Public Service Union and Jul’s Place.
