DSC to Represent at Inaugural Debate Friendly and Exchange in St. Lucia
The Dominica State College (DSC) Literary and Debating Society is proud to announce that six of its members will represent the College at the first-ever debate friendly and exchange with the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) in St. Lucia. The event, which will run from July 7 to 8th, 2023, aims to promote regional integration, collegial information sharing, cultural exchange, and strengthening the art of debating amongst young people.
The debaters include Ajani Shillingford, Janice Corbette, Megann Mendes, Khalil Stoute, Sasha Maxwell, and Bijoux Desiree of the DSC Literary and Debating Society. Coach and Advisor Trudy Christian will accompany the team during their two-day stay in St. Lucia for the exchange.
During their visit, the debaters will participate in two debates on ‘The benefits of artificial intelligence outweigh the potential risks to humanity’ and ‘The key cause of today’s gang culture in the Caribbean is the prevalence of debilitated families.’ In addition to these debates, there will also be workshops on debating and public speaking, and networking activities.

This debate-friendly exchange marks a milestone for both colleges as they strive towards promoting regional integration through student exchanges while developing skills such as critical thinking among students throughout the Caribbean region.
