DYBTs Hub launches 5 new E-training videos

The Dominica Youth Business Trust (DYBT) is celebrating another milestone today with the release of five new e-training videos and the new DYBT’s Hub website. The videos are among the new services being offered under DYBT’s Hub of entrepreneurial support, and present respected Dominican professionals giving guidance on five key topics: Writing a CV and Job Application, Presenting yourself at an Interview, Quality Customer Service, Business Ethics and Expectations of the Workplace.

The short videos are expected to assist young entrepreneurs and their potential employees, in setting clear expectations of the business environment, and building their capacities to contribute to productive and professional organizations. The video presenters are reputable and experienced professionals from Navigant Consulting Services, VF Inc, the Dominica Institute of Customer Service, The Youth Skills Training Unit, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).   The series of five e-training videos was produced by the IOM with funding from the IOM Development Fund.

These five videos are another tool that will be available to young people, particularly from disadvantaged backgrounds, to help them to connect with the working environment. The guidance from these professionals would normally not be accessible to all youth, however, they can now have guidance from the esteemed Dr. Valda Henry at their fingertips, telling them how they can conduct a winning job interview, or from Mr. Michel Williams on “Expectations of the Workplace”, or Ms. Natasha Yeeloy-Labad, on the “Culture of Customer Service”! These are just some examples of the kind of support that DYBT’s Hub is providing.  The videos are available on the new DYBT’s Hub website, at http://hub.dybt.gov.dm  and the Youth Division encourages all youth and young entrepreneurs to make use of these resources.

This initiative is among the final activities at the close of a project to “Strengthen the Capacity of the Dominica Youth Business Trust to support Dominican youth entrepreneurs to be more engaged in the Dominican economy”, implemented by the IOM office in Dominica with resources from the IOM Development Fund for capacity building activities in IOM Member States

This IDF project (2019) has given IOM the opportunity to undertake very meaningful activities to support the Dominica Youth Business Trust, as an instrument of the Ministry of Youth. The feedback from beneficiaries has been tremendous, and we only hope that the seed funding and mobilization support that we have provided will lead to sustainable impacts on the business environment in Dominica, giving much-needed support for young entrepreneurs to engage in building the local economy. The IOM Development Fund is an annual resource available to support capacity building in Member States, and which we will continue to use to support capacity building initiatives within the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
