This significant event is scheduled to take place on Friday 6th October, 2023, as part of the official schedule of events for the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank’s (ECCB) 40th Anniversary celebration. The ECCB has organised this event in collaboration with the Joint Oversight Committee of the Antigua-Barbuda and St. Kitts-Nevis National Youth Parliaments, further enhancing the significance of the occasion.

Phael Lander, who holds the esteemed office of President of the NYCD, will serve as the Minister of Community Development and Sports in the ECCU Regional Youth Parliament. His participation in this role underscores the commitment of the NYCD to youth development and community engagement.

Wendy Wallace, Dominica’s 2nd Vice President, will assume the role of Leader of the Opposition in the ECCU Regional Youth Parliament. With her exemplary leadership and dedication to the youth of Dominica, Ms. Wallace will bring a fresh perspective to the parliamentary proceedings and contribute to the development of constructive debates and policies.

The primary topic of discussion during the ECCU Regional Youth Parliament will be an “Action Plan to Quell Youth Violence.” This critical issue affects communities across the ECCU region, and the youth leaders will engage in in-depth discussions to formulate effective strategies and policies aimed at preventing and addressing youth violence.

President Lander expressed his enthusiasm about the event, stating, “I am honoured to represent Dominica and take on the role of Minister of Community Development and Sports in the ECCU Regional Youth Parliament, especially as part of ECCB’s 40th Anniversary celebration. This is a valuable opportunity for our youth to engage in constructive dialogue, and I look forward to collaborating with fellow young leaders to address important issues affecting our region.”

2nd Vice President Wendy Wallace shared her excitement, saying, “Being appointed as Leader of the Opposition is a privilege, and I am eager to contribute to meaningful discussions and offer solutions to quell youth violence. This is an issue that requires our collective attention, and I am committed to working collaboratively to address it.”
