Education Officials Highlight Resources Students Can Utilize at Home
The Minister of Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training and National Excellence, Mrs. Octavia Alfred, highlighted academic resources that students can use to keep themselves busy during the current lockdown in Dominica. Given that students will soon be sitting for the 2020 CSEC examination, the minister said students can use CXC Learning Hub, Digicel Learning Hub, as well as FLOW Classroom to prepare for their examinations.
“For the secondary schools, besides the use of google classroom we are still preparing for CXC Exams, so we are using the CXC learning hub as a medium the students can review,” Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Chandler Hyacinth, said. “We are using the FLOW classroom that students can use to prepare for exams. We have the Digicel Learning Hub which has a lot of material including material for grade 6 and we encourage students with access to the internet and with devices to use the Learning Hub as a means to review.”
She added that students who do not have ready access to internet-enabled devices can obtain the necessary information from education officers who have the materials for them to use. She also said the helpful materials will be uploaded to the ministry’s website so that students can access it from Facebook.
Hyacinth urged parents to do everything in their power to keep their children and wards occupied with their academics through the various channels put in place by the government during this lockdown.
