Edward Registe’s Plans for Grand Bay Includes 20 Road Projects, Fish Landing

DLP candidate Edward Registe’s plans for Grand Bay include 20 road projects, fish landing and others major projects across the constituency. Registe was launched at the Geneva Playing Field on Sunday and replaced two-time MP Justina Riviere to emerge the party candidate. He thanked the people for choosing him as their potential representative and provided insights into what he plans to accomplish for the region.

Registe said some of the roads to be rehabilitated include those in Bala Park road, Felicite road, Geneva Housing Scheme road, Mabouche area, Grand Coulibrie and those in Montine and Tete Morne among others.

“Some of the roads earmarked for construction are the Bala Park Road leading to the Pierre Charles Blvd; the Felicité Rd, Geneva House and Geneva Housing Scheme roads, roads in Bolom and the connection of the Mabouché section with a bridge over the Berricua Ravine,” Registe revealed. “We have had two sides of Mabouché with a small bridge to connect them. We will also do two back roads in Grand Coulibrie. The Picodo Road is down for repairs and a number of roads in the Montine and Tête Morne areas to name a few.”

He also disclosed that a new fish landing facility in Stowe will be constructed, and irrigation systems will be installed to encourage farmers to do more for waiting customers in Grand Bay and Soufriere among others.

Formerly, Registe used to be news anchor at DBS Radio and an agricultural extension officer. He worked with former/late Prime Minister Pierre Charles and is involved in a lot of community service in Grand Bay. He is chairman of the Grand Bay Village Council and is on the board of the Credit Union. He is also the Public Relations Officer of the Dominica Water and Sewerage Company (DOWASCO).

Registe said he is motivated to contest a political post on the DLP platform because of what the party achieved in the last two years after Hurricane Maria. He credited the DLP with refurbishing the community center under the Basic Needs Trust Fund, renovating the youth center, constructing building apartments, and rehabilitating failing road networks and bridges. He said he is happy to be in the party because the DLP is all about progress and prosperity for all citizens.

Parliamentary representative for the Mahaut Constituency, Rayburn Blackmoore, supports the candidacy of Registe and urged all Dominicans to vote for him. DLP candidate for the Marigot Constituency, Gregory “Karessah” Riviere, also supports Registe and said he is one of the best things to happen to Grand Bay and the Labour party.
