Electoral Office Says No Single Violence Disrupted Nomination Day Activities

The Electoral Office said no single violence disrupted Nomination Day activities. This fact was revealed by Elias Dupuis, the Press and Public Education Officer at the Electoral Commission. He said he is heartened that people trooped out to participate in the entire electoral process and not only to support their choice candidates.

We have not had any report of incidents of anyone trying to disturb the proceedings for Nomination Day, which is quite encouraging and heartening, to see that people are willing to participate in the process and not just the candidates

A total of 42 candidates will contest the coming December 6 general elections, and several of them agreed that the Nomination Day proceedings went well without any significant disruptions. Catherine Daniel, the DLP candidate for Colihaut constituency said she travelled to her constituency by boat – possibly because of road blockage set up by protests across the E.O. Leblanc highway in Salisbury – and that the members of her constituents received her well and escorted her to the Colihaut Village Council Office with peace and love. There are 21 constituents in Dominica and the UWP and DLP shall be tugging it out at the elections since the Kent Vital-led Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) has withdrawn from the race, choosing to throw their weight behind the UWP. The list of contenders for the DLP and UWP for the entire 21 constituencies is:
