Emmanuel Nanthan Emerges As New Chairman of Dominica Cricket Academy

Emmanuel Nanthan has emerged as the new chairman of the Dominica Cricket Academy (DCA). His emergency followed the restructuring of the board of directors and the need to trial a new set of cricketeers for the new season. Nanthan is the former president of the Dominica Cricket Association and former vice president of Cricket West Indies.

He is credited with founding and funding the DCA when he served with the academy.

Cricket fans and stakeholders believe the DCA will be completely overhauled under the leadership of Nanthan since he has the experience and fervour to see the game take centre-stage in Dominica. The former DCA board of directors was dissolved and the academy secretariat closed a short while ago for the purpose of reconstitution – but a segment of people across the country mistook the gesture as a personal attack on the person and capability of Nanthan.

DCA president Glen Joseph has debunked the insinuation. He reminded rumour-mongers that Nanthan was instrumental to the founding and funding of the cricket academy and would never be booted out of its operations. However, the new board of directors has a five-member executive committee and these include;

• Sherma Dalrymple
• Kevin James
• Jesse Bardouille

As part of the restructuring, the DCA has organized a new set of cricketeers which will be trialled with two matches on October 3rd and 10th at the Benjamin Park in Portsmouth. The DCA head coach is Sam Kirnon, and the players invited to the trial matches are:

Coneil Toussaint, Joel Durand, Kenney Edwards, Shakeem Thomas, Sherquan Toussaint, Shawn Hamilton, Morel Burton, Clemenson Le Blanc, Jeremiah Joseph and Stephan Pascal.
