The son of PM Roosevelt Skerrit, Malik Skerrit, was involved in a fatal accident that claimed the life of another individual. According to police report, Malik was driving a Mitsubishi Outlander on Bellevue Chopin Road while the other individual, Kyan Brent Joseph, was riding a motorcycle on the same road on his way from Grand Bay when the accident occurred.
Joseph, 27, from Gutter Village but who resided in Tarish Pit, was carrying a female passenger when the accident occurred at 12:30 pm on August 13. Although the unnamed female passenger did not sustain critical injuries, Joseph later gave up the ghost at the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital. Malik was not hurt in the fatal collision.
PM Skerrit in a press conference on Monday, August 14, expressed his sadness over the fatality and revealed that he had privately condoled the family of Joseph.
As you all know, my son was involved in a vehicular accident yesterday and one of the persons involved has lost his life. I want to extend my sincerest condolences as I have done privately to the family of Mr. Kyan Joseph. I cannot say much on this matter but I want to express publicly my heartfelt condolences and solidarity to his family.
