Former UWP Candidate Curvin Ferreira, Endorses DLP Adis King

Former UWP candidate Curvin Ferreira endorses DLP’s Adis King as she prioritizes tourism, agriculture, and education following her launch. A Gynecologist and former United Workers Party candidate for the St. Joseph constituency, Dr. Curvin Ferreira, said medical doctor Adis King of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) is the best representative for the St. Joseph job.

Ferreira said he began to support the DLP against UWP which was his former party because DLP has executed all the changes he wanted to see in community and national development.

I did run against labour in 2005; but 2005, my friends, is in my dim and distant past. In truth, all what I have sought have been achieved by successive labour governments. Therefore, Dominica, we must not make that fatal error of turning back. Dominica, you must not turn against the tides, you must not turn the red rising tides of labour that has raised so many boats. It should be obvious to you then that the Dr. Hon Roosevelt Skerrit must remain here to complete the job that he started.

Ferreira said the UWP he knew is different from the UWP of the present-day Lennox Linton. He said the UWP are lazybones who are not ready to work even though they call themselves the Workers Party.

“Simply said, brothers and sisters, Lennox Linton is no Eddison James,” Ferreira disclosed. “I continue to be astonished by this irony: a party that calls itself ‘Workers’, it is dominated by people who refuse to work. If you observe them you will see that they are daydreaming, they are daydreaming while wide awake hoping that by some form of fate they would get into government.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Adis King said she is going to prioritize rapid development in tourism, agriculture and education if elected to represent St. Joseph in parliament. She said tourism in Mero and Layou as well as the Belles village area will assume a new shape with her involvement. She added that this is necessary to attract investors and small business owners that will transform the constituency into a thriving commercial hub.

“I will push for additional enhancement along the Mero Beachfront, that will see the construction of Tiki Huts, a modern jetty, and a boardwalk,” King said. According to her, farm access roads will be rehabilitated and processing facilities will be constructed to produce local agricultural products into classical brands.

“Access to skills training and other learning opportunities must be part of the agenda of education,” she revealed. ”With the construction of a youth training center on the land acquired by this government just next to the Matthew’s Hall we will design formal skills training programmes for the entire constituency.”
