Fort Young Hotel & Dive Resort unveils fully refreshed oceanfront rooms

Fort Young Hotel & Dive Resort, Dominica’s landmark waterfront hotel and dive resort located on the Caribbean coast amidst the island’s capital city, Roseau, announced today the unveiling of 21 fully refreshed Oceanfront Deluxe Rooms. Replete with panoramic seaside views, exceptionally stylish furnishings, and a bright color palette, the reimagined guestrooms are designed to make guests feel even more warmly welcomed while expressing Dominica’s vibrant spirit. The island’s lush, green foliage and blue ocean are captured in the pops of colour peppered throughout the rooms, from the art to the fabrics to the wall planters, which bloom with indigenous tropical plants. The use of greys and deep graphite were inspired by the island’s volcanic rock and dark sands while the addition of natural textures and materials reflect the pure beauty found throughout the “Nature Island.” A nod to Dominica’s rich history, behind the headboards in each of the rooms is a dramatic vintage survey map of the island that dates back to 1773. Additionally, the redesigned rooms boast one-of-a-kind pieces by Dominican artist Shadrach Burton that embrace the island’s tropical flora as well as the prized national bird – the sisserou parrot – while integrating a variety of bold colours that reflect Roseau’s vitality.

“The site’s rich history, its breathtaking ocean and mountain views, along with Dominica’s impressive volcanic rock and pebbled beaches, inspired our design concept for the guestrooms,” said Michelle Leotaud, design lead with Apple + Iron.

These refreshed rooms are part of the resort’s new master plan that also calls for 13 more rooms to be updated this summer alongside the introduction of a brand-new waterfront spa and six all-new Oceanfront Junior Suites with en-suite bathrooms, kitchenettes and interconnecting rooms; 60 forthcoming Fort Rooms; a state-of-the-art fitness center featuring eco-friendly equipment; business center; new bar and lounge; 200-seat conference room; 250-seat sun deck for weddings and other events; art gallery, wine and rum cellar, gift shop, and three new meeting rooms. Upon completion, Fort Young Hotel & Dive Resort will be a 4+ star property.

“We’re excited for guests to experience our new guestrooms and continue to make Fort Young Dominica’s premier hotel and dive resort,” said Dinesh Kissoon, the hotel’s general manager. “With more people traveling again, we aim to make Fort Young a safe and serene destination from which visitors can enjoy a much-needed tropical vacation or comfortably work remotely with endless adventures at their doorstep. The resort is truly the gateway to Dominica, whether traveling for business or leisure.”

From sustainable local dining and a variety of activities, along with multiple spaces to work, Fort Young Hotel is truly an ideal and idyllic base from which to live and work remotely.
