Four Men Assist Police with Investigations into Marcus Fagan’s Murder

Four men from Bath Estate are currently helping police with investigations into the gruesome murder of 35-year-old Marcus Fagan. The deceased was shot to death by a masked man on July 21 close to a grocery shop, according to video footage released by police. Deputy Police Chief Lincoln Corbette said it is possible to apprehend the killer with the help of the four unnamed men.

“We are going to pursue this matter with all the vigor and strength and courage that we already have,” Corbette said. “We won’t stop until we are sure we have left no stone unturned.”

The senior police officer stated that one of the four men assisting with the investigations visited the police department in the company of his lawyer. No arrests have been made yet in connection with the killing, and investigations remain on course, police said.

The minister of justice condemned the killing, saying it will be necessary to review the Firearms Act in the country. Senior police officers and concerned citizens have also decried the increasing possession and use of illegal firearms in the country. Corbette said many arrests have been made over the years of persons possessing illegal firearms.

“People have always been arrested for possession of firearms, so it’s not an issue that we are taking lightly,” he said. “We’ve been active and you’ve been seeing us on the streets and there’ve been a lot of stop-and-search at vehicle checkpoints. And we’ve been successful on many occasions where we’ve arrested and charged people for possession of firearms.”

Revealing that a lot of murders have been firearms-related, the police officer asked people with illegal weapons to surrender them to the police. He advised people to never resort to guns in resolving personal differences since this could lead to gun violence with reprisal killings. Surrendering illegal firearms to the police will reduce the incidence of gun violence in the society, he cautioned.

“People should not solve differences with guns. It may lead to gun violence and reprisal killings may result. If anyone wants to surrender their weapons to the police, the authorities will gladly take the firearms without charging the person. We’re not going to penalize you for surrendering your weapons or telling us where such can be found,” Corbette stated.
