Goodwill Bouyon Artiste Trilla G’s New Musical Video Stirs Emotions

Gael Jno Baptiste, a 20-year-old Bouyon artiste from Goodwill has released his new musical video. Better known as Trilla G on the musical scene, the artiste’s “The Prayer” musical video is shaking up the entertainment industry in the light of the story behind the video.

According to Trilla G, the musical video is a “modern day gospel Bouyon anthem” released to appreciate his mother and late father. The artiste, whose father died four years ago, said his mother raised him and his siblings alone and with considerable difficulty. And to portray how much he misses his dad, Trilla G in the opening scenes of the musical video could be seen pouring himself a whisky shot and going to the cemetery where he poured his father a libation.

Trilla G said he first heard of the song “Bless Me” by Good Girl LA and was so moved by it that he decided to do a Bouyon instrumental version of it, and the result is “The Prayer”.

“I remember listening to that song and feeling so moved and so inspired and I thought it would make a really good sample on a Bouyon instrumental,” Trilla G reminisced. “Nobody ever ventured into that gospel vibe on the Bouyon side and I was like you know what, let me make something inspirational for a change, let me make something that can touch people, something real and genuine.”

In a related development, 26 cultural groups are taking part in this year’s carnival opening parade. Deputy Chairperson of the Carnival Road Committee, Charlene White-Christian, said the 26 groups include two Kalinago groups who are featuring for their first time ever. The groups consist of nine Lapo Kabwits, five Sensay groups, two stilt-walking groups, two Neg Mawon groups, and the Black Devils.

Also, 22 Calypso artistes will be featuring in the Calypso competition recently opened a couple days back. The artistes include Intruder, Checker, Hunter, Observer, and Sour Sour as well as Mighty DBS who are two newcomers.
