Government Appoints Bouyon Artiste Asa Bantan as Goodwill Ambassador

Bouyon artiste Asa Bantan is now a goodwill ambassador for the government and country of Dominica. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Kenneth Darroux, congratulated the popular artiste on his appointment and disclosed that the government has been very pleased with him for many years.

“Let me be one of the first to congratulate him,” Kenneth Darroux said. “Asa represents a large constituency of fans of Bouyon music. From a government point of view, we’ve been very impressed with his representation over the years. He goes out there as a Bouyon artist to entertain but he has this very fierce, undeniable patriotism in his presentations, props and dress. He never fails to mention his home.”

Bantan is from Grand Bay and sings about social issues and matters affecting the man on the street as well as those in government. Some of the famous hits include “Move”, “Macaroni”, “Prime Minister”, “Make a Mess”, and “Tip of the Top” among others. The Bouyon rave noted that some of his models in the industry include Vybez Kartel, Twins of Twins, and Spragga Benz.

As a goodwill ambassador, Bantan shall represent the country and advance the ideals and values of the Dominican government. He shall be the face of the government to individuals, organizations, institutions, towns, cities, and nations.

He was appointed a Brand Ambassador for state-owned DBS Radio in January 2019; and he is also the Brand Ambassador for Trois Piton Water.
