Government Is Constructing New Housing and Health Centre Projects in Mahaut

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit revealed at the just concluded Town Hall Meeting that new housing and health centre projects are currently underway in Mahaut. Residents in the community will enjoy comfortable housing plans and also access proper medical care at the health clinics on completion. These projects are expected to be ready by April 2020.

Parliamentary representative for Mahaut, Rayburn Blackmoore, revealed that 33 housing units are under construction in Jimmit, with plans on line to extend further constructions to other parts of the constituency.

“We know persons in every part of the constituency who are in need of homes,” Hon. Blackmoore said. “And we heard and you saw for yourself the presentation of 33 units in Jimmit. Excavation work has begun in Jimmit and in ten months, I have been advised, we’ll be walking a line down on wonderful apartments, my dear friends, in Jimmit.”

During the post-budget town hall meeting, Project Director for MMCE, Chris Timmins, unveiled the Jimmit housing plans and health centre projects to attendees, saying they should all be ready in eight months. He said the grounds for the building has been cleared, excavation begun for the foundation, and first concrete for the foundation poured.

Timmins explained that the project shall be a three-floor building reinforced with solid concrete to make it hurricane-proof. He said there will be 30 two- and three-bedroom housing units with provisions for balconies. He added that the final architectural design for each structure was only approved for each location bearing in mind the different seismic capabilities of each area.

Timmins revealed that the Mahaut health centre to be constructed will be a 3,693 square feet facility capable of providing 24-hour medical service to people.

The health centre has 2 beds for short – term stay for patients, consultation rooms, 2 multi-purpose clinics, we’ve got pharmacy store, vaccine store where drugs can be dispensed. We also have accommodation for nurses.
