Government Promises to Promote and Give CARIFTA Team & Athletes Foreign Exposure

Following the return of Dominican athletes from the 50th CARIFTA games in the Bahamas, the government has promised to give Dominican athletes the needed support for international exposure. On behalf of the Ministry of Sports, Senator Oscar George said the DLP administration will promote athletes and give them the international exposure needed to improve their talents.

Our government for the ministry of sports has made it a priority to promote our athletes and give them the needed exposure to develop their talents and have also aimed to develop the skills and abilities of our athletes at a very early age in order that they can compete on the regional and international stage…from primary school and an early secondary school level.

Hon. Oscar George, Senator

George said the sports ministry will also prioritize developing sporting talents in children as young as 10 years old henceforth. He thanked the Dominican team for representing the country well in the Bahamas and expressed joy that one of them, Addison James, won a gold medal in javelin for the Under 17 Boys category. The senator urged him to remain hardworking and humble for better future performances.

A gold medal is a significant achievement for any athlete. You are now an ambassador for the sport of javelin in Dominica and there are many athletes that are now looking up to you and I encourage you to start thinking bigger beyond just CARIFTA. Continue to be humble and let your hard work speak for itself.

Hon. Oscar George, Senator
