Govt Approves 10 Homes for Sineku, 8 for Bataka, and 6 for Concord
The DLP administration has approved 10 housing projects for Sineku, eight for Bataka, and six for Concord. This project was captured under three new work contracts signed by the government in September. A total of 24 homes is scheduled for completion by June 2022.
The Minister for Governance, Gretta Roberts, expressed joy to see the project kick-off and hoped that it will be completed in time to benefit the stipulated beneficiaries. She added that several local contractors were engaged for the project and several stakeholders have their hands on deck to see the work to completion. She added that $10 million has been disbursed so far for the project and that the people of Sineku, Bataka, and Concord are blessed to have the project in their honour.
We have three local contractors engaged – AK Henderson Ltd., Olymbis Construction, and Francis Thomas Construction Ltd. There are many stakeholders on the project – the Ministry of Kalinago Affairs, the Kalinago Council, the Ministry of Housing, CREAD, and we also have the support of CEP who provides supervision on the ground. And so on behalf of the government of Dominica and the European Union, it gives me great pleasure to be on the ground and to see the work commence and we hope that the houses will be delivered on time.

The Minister for Kalinago Upliftment, Cozier Frederick, also stated that 80% of the employees working on the Sineku housing project are from the Kalinago Territory and that further constructions have been tabled for Gaulette River, Mahaut River, St. Cyr, Crayfish River and Salybia. The parliamentary member for Salybia Constituency said he will continue to work hard to bring the dividends of democracy under the Skerrit administration home to the Kalinago and Salybia peoples.
