Gretta Roberts Says Govt Will Invest $27 Million to Renovate Public Buildings

The Minister for Governance, Greta Roberts, has revealed that the government has alloted $27 million to renovate public buildings across Dominica. The renovation and construction of public buildings include police stations, administration complexes, and port houses among others.

The minister echoed part of what PM Roosevelt Skerrit stated during the presentation of the 2022-2023 National Budget to legistlators recently. Roberts noted that the DLP administration remains committed to providing decent housing facilities for public functions throughout the entire Island.

While noting that the government’s efforts to reclassify and restructure the public service is ongoing and nearing completion, Roberts said the government has outlined progressive policies that will drive economic development and the civil service in the country. She made it clear that the public service is indispensable in achieving government programs for the nation.

The Minister for Citizenship Empowerment and Social Justice also stated that the Skerrit administration launched a health and wellness program that addresses NCD risk factors among civil servants. Roberts announced that the initiative will improve the health of the workforce and ultimately guarantee the wellness of all Dominicans in the country.

Meanwhile, the government has tasked employers of labor to take the health of workers seriously and develop wellness programs that will ensure the health of employees. The government emphasized that the health of the citizenry must not be left in the hands of the authorities alone, but should be a concerted effort to heal the land and its peoples.
