Hurricane-Proof Vieille Case Health Center to Be Completed Soon
Climate-resilient and hurricane-proof Vieille Case Health Center is to be completed soon. Funded by Citizenship by Investment (CBI), the health center is expected to be completed by April. Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit who is also the parliamentary representative for the Vieille Case constituency, said he looks forward to the opening ceremony of the health center.
“Things are looking up where health services are concerned. We know this is a topical issue in Dominica-the delivery of health care services, the facilities,” Skerrit said. “So we are seeking to respond to the challenges and to the concerns of the society and I think we are well on our way with that.”
The construction of the Vieille Case health center started in October 2019. Skerrit said a lot of professionalism went into the designs of the facility so as to make it resistant to seismic activities. He said its engineering is in line with seismic activities in Dominica, and this will make it solidly hurricane-proof and climate-resilient.
The prime minister said he is working with stakeholders to ensure that the health center will serve the complete needs of the people of Vieille Case. He said the facility “will certainly be with us for a very long time.”
