IMF Executives Visit Dominica to Discuss Financing Climate Resilience

Executives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) were recently in Dominica to discuss climate change with PM Roosevelt Skerrit. Led by the deputy managing director, Bo Li, the IMF team discussed the growing threats of climate change with Skerrit, supporting Dominica’s objective to become the first climate-resilient country in the world by 2030, and mobilizing global financing for the country’s Disaster Resilience programme.

Li said his team’s visit to Dominica was a follow-up to the IMF managing director’s visit earlier this year. He said this is to analyze and strategize on strengthening climate resilience projects across the Caribbean, with particular attention on Dominica. The team inspected the damage caused by various hurricanes and storms in Dominica, and reviewed the government’s policies for sustainable development and funding.
