Independence Address From the Desk of the Head of Office of IOM Dominica

On this joyous occasion, I extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt congratulations to all the citizens of Dominica as you celebrate your 45th Anniversary under the theme “Let us celebrate”.

This momentous milestone not only signifies the passage of time but also stands as a testament to the strength, unity, and unwavering spirit of the Dominican people. In the face of numerous challenges, you have shown remarkable resilience and determination in building a brighter future for your nation.

As the Head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) office in Dominica, I am privileged to witness the incredible contributions that the people of Dominica make to their country, their communities, and the world at large. Through our partnership and collaboration, we have seen the profound achievements that can be realized when individuals come together to address issues of migration, climate change, and sustainable development.

The theme “Let us celebrate” serves as a powerful reminder that even in the face of adversity, there are countless reasons to celebrate the achievements, progress, and the shared vision of a better, more sustainable future for all. It encourages us to reflect on the achievements of the past and the opportunities that lie ahead.

Dominica’s commitment to environmental preservation, disaster resilience, and social cohesion to reduce threats to the human security of both nationals and non-residents is commendable. The way you have embraced the challenges of climate change, environmental migration, and sustainable development is truly an inspiration to us all.

As we celebrate this remarkable 45th Anniversary, let us take a moment to honour the achievements, remember the challenges overcome, and look ahead with hope and determination. Together, let us continue to build a brighter and more prosperous future for the generations to come.
