The Minister of Education, Octavia Alfred, has expressed deep appreciation to the Israeli government under the aegis of IsraAid for the consignment of hygiene products donated to schools in Dominica. The donation includes health products such as hand-soaps, soap dispensers, reusable face masks for children, and DIY instruction manuals on how to make masks at home.
Minister Alfred said the health and safety products would go a long way in preventing the spread of COVID-19 among schoolchildren and throughout Dominica as a whole. She promised that the items will be distributed to primary schools, 20 early childhood facilities, and three special education centers across the island. She also thanked IsraAid for their consistent assistance to the Ministry of Education in Dominica.
On behalf of the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training and National Excellence, I extend sincere appreciation and gratitude to IsraAid. You have always been here for us…and we commend your efforts. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, demands for cleaning supplies has tripled. As such this donation of hygiene products is well received; it is very appropriate and necessary.

The acting Chief Education Officer, Dr. Jeffrey Blaze, also thanked IsraAid for the kind gesture, adding that the consistent assistance of the humanitarian agency has gone a long way to promoting quality education in Dominica despite the drawbacks of the COVID-19 pandemic.
IsraAid’s Country Director in Dominica, Dana Yaari, vowed that the agency would continue to be of help to the education ministry throughout their tenure in the country. She said her agency is committed to quality education and actually partnered with the Dominica Ministry of Education to determine what would be most useful for students in the post-COVID-19 period.
“Today, we are launching the Healthy Return to School regional programme funded by the Israeli Emergency funds, the Israeli Agency for International Development, and the embassy for Israel in the Dominican Republic,” she stated. “This is a part of IsraAid’s continued support to the Ministry of Education. One of our great pillars and components of our work here is working closely with the education system and primarily with the Ministry to do anything really that you need and any efforts you see fit and appropriate.”
