ITSS Alumnus, Kinte Serrant, Advises 42 New Graduates on Overcoming Challenges
Forty-two students graduated from the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School (ITSS) on Wednesday. The theme of their graduating lecture is Going Beyond Finite Possibilities: Advancing with Purpose. The keynote speaker was Kinte Serrant, a former student of the school who now holds a B.Sc in Management from the UWI and a Masters in Public Administration following his relocation to the United States.
Serrant relieved his experience at the ITSS and how he has applied the lessons obtained at the school to push himself through life. He emphasized that the personal mantra that every new graduate should apply is “keep moving”. He noted that with the keep-moving mentality, everyone will scale through life hurdles to reach their destination.
Figure out what you’re passionate about and learn how to turn that into a business. Do something! Don’t just sit there doing nothing. Keep moving!

Serrant advised the graduating students to write their plans on paper so that it can reinforce their importance. He tasked the students to go out into the world and conquer their fears with all the energy and resources they can marshall. He said they should be guided with the principles of positive attitude, self-reflection, gratitude, punctuality, and hardwork among other godly virtues.
The principal of ITSS, Benedict Charles, also congratulated the graduating class of 2023 and tasked them to be strong in the face of challenges. He said that life has a way of teaching people important lessons and that they must be strong and wise to make the best use of all that life brings their way. He added that family and friends are important as one navigates the ocean of life and that faith in God is also very imperative.
