Jollys Pharmacy Wins 3 Awards at the 2021 CAP Conference
For over 41 years, Jolly’s Pharmacy has had a wide-reaching impact on the healthcare industry- locally and regionally, and this contribution was once again recognized at the 2021 Annual Convention of the Caribbean Association of Pharmacists (CAP). The CAP Awards recognizes and rewards excellence among regional pharmacies and Jolly’s Pharmacy has managed to scoop three (3) major awards during CAP’s 41st Annual Convention Awards held in the Bahamas.
Members of the pharmaceutical fraternity were honored for their outstanding contribution on the frontlines. However, due to the current COVID-19 climate in Dominica and given the dire need for their services, Pharmacists from Jolly’s Pharmacy were not able to convene with their regional colleagues.
Nevertheless, at the awards ceremony which was held on August 14th 2021, it was announced that the 2019 CAP Awards recipients, Ms. Stella Giddings and Mr. Carlton Lanquedoc, were both awarded the CAP Medal of Honor, second (2nd) place prizes for the Caribbean Community Pharmacist of Distinction Award and the Caribbean Pharmacist of the Year award, respectively.
Ms. Stella Giddings, Pharmacist and admired Pharmacy Supervisor; who is also a passionate advocate for the vulnerable population, was overjoyed to attain the 2nd Place prize winner as the Caribbean Community Pharmacist of Distinction. Undoubtedly, Ms. Giddings, who has been an exemplary role model for her peers and patients, is very deserving of this accolade. She is being recognized as a member of CAP who has served the community by providing the highest level of Pharmaceutical Care.
Mr. Carlton Lanquedoc, Pharmacist, who wears many hats, was extremely gratified to have secured the 2nd Place prize as the Caribbean Pharmacist of the Year. Relentless in his pursuit of excellence, he translates this energy into being creative, and thinking outside the box to explore new horizons for healthcare in a changing world. The diversity of his roles and accomplishments led to this award; given for outstanding contribution to the profession of pharmacy and the Caribbean society.
In the midst of a global pandemic, Jolly’s Pharmacy has pivoted to meet the needs of Dominicans, and this has been evident in the work of their subsidiary, Jolly’s Manufacturing. In highlighting their extraordinary efforts, CAP bestowed upon them the 2021 Caribbean Pharmacy Innovator’s Award, which is awarded to an individual, organization or institution that has developed new concepts, ideas, products or techniques that has benefited healthcare, Caribbean Pharmacy and the wider society. Undeniably, innovation is the cornerstone of the manufacturing team, led by Lou Ann Jno Baptiste, Analytical Chemist, who has over the years expanded the line of manufactured products to include deodorants, skin lotions, insect repellents, bathing soaps and ayurvedic pain relief oils.
In closing, Jolly’s Pharmacy is immensely proud of our outstanding Pharmacists and Manufacturing team for the compassion and dedication they demonstrate daily. Jolly’s Pharmacy expresses its utmost gratitude to everyone who has been a part of this journey, and another CAP regional award is not achieved without the support of our cherished customers.
