Joseph Isaac Commends DLP Administration for Social and Economic Revolution
Speaker of the House of Assembly, Joseph Isaac, praised the Skerrit-led administration for the social and economic revolution being witnessed in Dominica. The former parliamentary representative for Roseau Central and Roseau North credited the DLP government with innovative policies that would raise the standard of living for the Dominican people.
Isaac highlighted the milestones the government has achieved in terms of housing, agriculture, and tourism among other developmental policies. He also cited the “revolutionary legislative amendments that took place in the House of Assembly” as appropriate to elevating the private sector and advancing grassroot development. According to him, “this is the way we should govern a country.”
The speaker of the House also appreciated the government for the way they have managed the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. He commended the Ministry of Health for the health and safety protocols put in place to safeguard the health of the people. He said 2020 was a very trying people for healthcare workers and encouraged Dominicans to cooperate with the government in the fight against the spread of coronavirus.
In a related development, Careen Prevost has been appointed the Cabinet Secretary effective from January 5, 2021. Before her appointment, Prevost was the permanent secretary at the Ministry of Tourism and later the permanent secretary at the Ministry of Environment. At a point in her career life, Prevost was the Chief Personal Officer (CPO) and a public servant that is greatly loved by all and sundry. It is hoped that she will bring a lot of experience to bear in her new role as Cabinet Secretary.
