Joshua Francis Exits Politics, Says It’s the Best Decision for Everyone
UWP’s Deputy Leader Joshua Francis has exited politics. He bid farewell to politics via a Facebook post and after due consultations with his party executives. Francis was the parliamentary representative for Roseau South constituency but lost the December 6, 2019 general elections to Chekira Lockhart-Hypolite.
The former parliamentarian had represented Roseau South for five years before his loss to Lockhart-Hypolite. But he said his departure from politics is best for himself, his family, and everyone concerned.
“I need a break for repair and restoration in what has been taken and broken in my personal life,” Francis said. “I journeyed to make Dominica a better place. All I ever desired was to help in making Dominicans experience a better life, especially for the bare-foot man. I gave my all – sacrificed a lot.”
The exiting UWP deputy leader further expressed his gratitude to the party and all party supporters in Roseau South. He said it was a great privilege to serve Dominica as a member of parliament, and promised to remain helpful to the party in whatever capacity he can help from behind the frontlines.
“After ruminating and observations in recent weeks, I know that exiting is the best decision for me, and for you,” he said. “We live to experience happier days! I love you…my best wishes go out to everyone, including those who sought my destruction…”
