Joshua Francis Stabbed By Woman; Hospitalized; Police Commence Investigation

Deputy Political Leader of the UWP, Joshua Francis, suffered a stabbing incident at his home on Wednesday. He was allegedly stabbed at his Mahaut home by a woman who is currently being investigated by the police. The former parliamentarian for the Roseau South Constituency was stabbed at the right shoulder blade from behind.

According to police PRO John Carbon, Francis was transported to the health centre in Mahaut for First-Aid attention before he was moved to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) for admission. Carbon said he medical doctors have attended to him and that he is in stable condition and might be discharged soon.

Police authorities are not sure of why the woman stabbed the famous politician, but they said the suspect has taken to her heels after the incident. Police said she will be taken into custody after she is located and arrested. The stabbing incident reportedly happened about 11:20 am according to police reports.

Police authorities have cautioned people across the country to eschew violence and embrace dialogue in settling differences. They warned youths against the use of firearms and warned gangs to find something constructive to do with their time. People have also been warned against domestic violence in families, while offended people can always approach the police station for help in resolving escalated conflicts.
