Julius Timothy Transferred From DCFH to Trinidad for Heart Treatment

Businessman and former politician Julius Timothy has been flown out to Trinidad & Tobago for heart-related treatment. The former UWP minister was admitted to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) last week and doctors diagnosed him with a heart condition. He was placed at the ICU of the hospital where doctors said he was stable but in critical condition.
Before Timothy was admitted to the DCFH, he was recovering from an eye surgery at home and friends were around to offer emotional support. When his associates observed that he was not faring well, he was rushed to the hospital and medical personnel said he just suffered a “massive heart attack”.
On Tuesday, he was transferred from the DCFH to Trinidad for more specialized heart treatment. He travelled via the Douglas Charles Airport. His family and associates asked the public to offer prayers on his behalf. In 2013 when he was the Minister of Health under the UWP government of former Prime Minister Edison James, Timothy suffered a stroke and he was taken by air ambulance to Martinique for medical treatment.
Timothy, 71, is the managing director of A.C. Shillingford and Co. He became a senator in 1990 and became the parliamentary representative for Roseau North Constituency in 1995. He served as the Minister of Finance under PM James from in 2000, but left the UWP to join the DLP in 2006. He has an MBA from the University of the West Indies and held leadership positions in several organizations.
