Kidnapper Keyan Alexander Shot Dead; Police Continues Search for Kernisha

Police authorities on Saturday, June 18, reported apprehending kidnapper Keyan Alexander who subsequently died from gunshot wounds. Deputy Chief of Police Lincoln Corbette said a police patrol team came across Alexander at Brookhill Estate area. He said they tried to apprehend him but he charged at them with a 3-feet-long cutlass.

Corbette said police shot at his legs and tried to administer first aid – at about 3:15 pm – and then called for an ambulance and the district medical officer. But he succumbed to his injuries and died shortly after – his body was deposited at the Lyndhurst Funeral Home at about 3:30 pm. The deputy police chief further stated that Alexander revealed certain information about the possible whereabout of Kernisha Etienne, and that police officers are working on the information to rescue the girl.

“During that time, he said certain things to the police as to the possible whereabouts of Kernisha Etienne,” Corbette stated. “As a result, the search has been intensified in the area to find Kernisha Etienne. I wish to commend all the officers and members of the public who have been relentless in searching for Kernisha. Our main focus remains the safe return of Kernisha Etienne to her family.”

Alexander, 31, reportedly kidnapped 12-year-old Kernisha from her home in Warner on June 7 at about 11:30 pm. He attacked Kernisha’s foster parents – Laurent Joseph Bruno and Misca Bruno – with a cutlass, inflicting serious injuries on Laurent before abducting the girl. Bruno is reportedly Alexander’s uncle. The kidnapper was said to be mentally unstable.

Kernisha’s mother said she believes strongly that her daughter is fine and will be found alive. “What I am getting in my thoughts is that Kernisha is okay. She is ok and she is going to come back.”
