Kristine Simelda to Launch New Mystery Novels Based on True Events

Kristine Simelda, an American-born author residing in Dominica for the past thirty years, is set to launch two new novels. The books, “Rainforest Redemption” and “Blessings on Blessings,” are part of the Maxine Alexander Mystery series and focus on true-life kidnappings in Dominica in 2011 and 2022.

The launch event will take place on Saturday, June 1, at 4 pm at Tropical Blendz Café, located on the upper floor of Prevo Cinemall, at the corner of Old Street and Kennedy Avenue. The event will feature opportunities to meet the author, enjoy refreshments, listen to live music by Jussi Paavola, and engage in discussions about child abuse prevention.

“Rainforest Redemption: A Maxine Alexander Mystery, Book I,” follows Maxine Alexander, a junior reporter, as she investigates the disappearance of her classmate Flora Durand in Plaisance. With the help of a Rasta man named Jacko, Maxine confronts the forces of good and evil, leading to a gripping conclusion.

In “Blessings on Blessings: A Maxine Alexander Mystery, Book II,” Maxine returns to Plaisance after a decade abroad. She becomes involved in the search for a missing young girl named Blessings, using her radio program “Bring Blessings Home” to aid in the effort to find the girl.

Kristine Simelda’s writing focuses on cross-cultural experiences with empathy and engagement. She has published numerous short fiction pieces in regional and international journals and has authored three adult novels and three young adult novels under her imprint, River Ridge Press, Dominica. Her latest novel, “Rise Up, Sista,” which explores enduring female friendship, was released in November 2021 by TouchPoint Press in the U.S.

Simelda’s books are available at Jays Ltd. in Dominica, the Roseau Public Library, and on Amazon in both eBook and paperback formats. Additional information about the author and her works can be found on her website at www.kristinesimelda.com.
