La Plaine Housing Named After St. Jean As 64 Get Commitment Letters for Houses

La Plaine housing named after St. Jean as 64 get commitment letters for new houses. Petter St. Jean is the parliamentary representative for the La Plaine constituency and is going to be having a new housing complex named after him. The housing estate will be known as “The Petter St. Jean Housing Complex”.

St. Jean has been representing La Plaine for over 10 years, but not anymore starting from the next general elections. The DLP government is not fielding him in the coming election, and they are not giving any reasons to the public. Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit thanked St. Jean for all he did for the constituency and told the people that the parliamentary represented must be appreciated, hence the naming of the housing complex after him.

“We have to give reverence and express our sense of gratitude to honorable Saint Jean for his stewardship because we all knew the state of this constituency when he became the senator in 2005,” Skerrit said.

The prime minister made this known while handing out commitment letters to 64 new housing units to potential residents in La Plaine. He said most of the development recorded in the constituency were arranged and carried out by St. Jean and that’s the more reason he must not only be commended but rewarded.

Skerrit said the 64 families who just received their commitment letters will have keys to their new houses within two weeks. He made it clear that the new housing were constructed with CBI funds. According to him, more homes will be constructed for Dominicans when the World Bank makes good on their promise to make EC$104 million available.

St. Jean added that over 320 families were given renovation materials to repair their homes in La Plaine.

“Not only have homes been recovered, reconstructed and rebuilt but through the government’s material distribution program a total of 324 homes among the three villages, the homes owners were given the material to complete roof renovation,” Saint Jean revealed. According to St. Jean, the sum of EC$1.4 million has been made available to upgrade the water project in the constituency and another EC$1.2 million
