Lighthouse Christian Academy In Kalinago Territory Wins Competition
The Lighthouse Christian Academy has emerged the 2020 overall winner of an inter-school literary competition in the Kalinago Territory. Held annually and sponsored by Dr. Theodore Thomas, a Kalinago native and medical surgeon, the winners of this year’s competition wrote on “My COVID-19 Experience in the Kalinago Territory”.
All the five primary schools in the Kalinago Territory took part in the annual literary competition: These are –
- Lighthouse Christian Academy
- Atkinson Primary School
- Salybia Primary School
- Sineku Primary School
- Concord Primary School
Two students represented each school in the competition, making the total number of participants 10. The purpose of the literary competition is to build the creative skills of young students before they sit for the Grade Six National Assessment (G6NA) examination.
Lyma Burton and Aminah Thomas represented the Lighthouse Christian Academy and placed first and second in the competition. Dian Augustine of Sineku Primary School came third and Annel Eustache of Salybia Primary School placed fourth. Both Augustine and Eustache had written on “The Day I Was a Tour Guide in the Kalinago Territory”.
The panel of judges was drawn from the Kalinago Territory and prizes were presented to the overall winners.
