Lincoln Corbette May Take Over As Daniel Carbon Goes On Extended Leave

Dominica Chief of Police, Daniel Carbon, will proceed on extended leave as from September 1. He took over from Cyril Carette who retired from the police force in 2012, and had never proceeded on annual leave since he became police chief eight years ago.

According to internal sources, Carbon has earned over 400 days of accummulated leave since he became police chief, and his impending leave may usher him into retirement. Sources said he is already clearing his desk and making arrangements for handover to the person who would be taking over from him during his leave of absence.

“All I can say to you is that he is clearing his desk and from next week will proceed on long leave into retirement, and that is as much as I will say for now,” the source revealed.

It is widely expected that Deputy Police Chief Lincoln Corbette will take over as Acting Chief of Police in the absence of Carbon. But who will become Deputy Chief of Police when Corbette moves up the ladder is still a subject of speculation.

Under his leadership, Carbon has strived to improve the competence of police officers in Dominica and acquire security equipment that will improve their services. He has managed election situations, illegal immigration, violent crimes, and general law enforcement across Dominica. Individuals and the government have commended his leadership skills as well as pointed out areas for improvement.
