Linton Releases Video Footage Allegedly Orchestrated by DLP to Tanish His Reputation

Opposition leader Lennox Linton releases video footage allegedly orchestrated by the DLP to tanish his reputation. The footage shows a white man placing a suitcase which the UWP said that the DLP claimed contained $1 million. The UWP said the video was orchestrated by the Skerrit administration to cast him in negative light and soil his good name before the coming general elections.

Linton showcased the fake video at a Bay Front meeting in Roseau and interpreted the events unfolding in it. The video was recorded by CCTV cameras at his home. It shows a man who brings in a suitcase to the front door and then left with it again without doing anything other than waiting briefly. Then the man returns again with the suitcase and leaves it at the doorstep before going away. Then another man comes to the front door to retrieve the bag and goes away with it.

Linton said the DLP released the part of the video where the man drops the bag and retreats without showing the part where another man comes in to take the bag away. He said DLP’s claim that the bag contained $1 million bribe for him was scandalous – asking how they knew the bag contained money at all. And if it even did, the second man coming to take the bag away indicated that the money was never left for Linton but was actually taken away.

“We continue to reject the Dominica Labour Party Politics of hate, lies, character assassination and deception,” the UWP leadership said of the video. “The matter has been exposed for what it is – a criminal act and a gross infringement on the rights of Mr. Linton and his family, trespassing, unlawful plant of misleading evidence and attempted sabotage of the good and decent name of our Leader.”

The UWP said the men dropping and retrieving the suitcase allegedly containing money have been identified to be British nationals hired by the DLP to create mischief during the coming elections. “We ask that those involved in attempting to destroy the reputation of one of the key officers of the state to make amends and retract their accusations,” the party warned.

The party expressed their readiness to serve the people of Dominica once they win the elections, saying they are prepared to bring peace and progress to the country because “our party, UWP Team Dominica, prides itself on building people and country, and we affirm the godly precepts of love and unity.”
