Linton Writes To Police Asking For Investigation and Prosecution of Trespassers
Opposition leader Lennox Linton wrote to police asking for investigation and prosecution of trespassers who visited his Morne Daniel home with a black travel bag. The UWP leader said two white men came to his home with a bag which the DLP administration allegedly said contained $1 million. He said he has notified President Charles Savarin on the matter and has also written to the British High Commission since the trespassers were allegedly British.
According to Linton, two British men were caught on his CCTV surveillance cameras dropping and retrieving a bag at his front porch on May 19. Video footage of the alleged trespass showed a white man come to the front door of Linton’s home with a travel bag. He dropped the bag and then immediately picked it up again and left. The man later returned and dropped the bag and left empty-handed. A second man came and picked the bag and then simply hurried away.
Linton wants the police to investigate the two men and charge them for criminal trespass. He accused the men of dropping and later retrieving a bag which the DLP said contained $1 million. Although he charged the DLP to prove that the bag contained money, he said he is happy that the trespassers went away with the alleged money in the bag.
“I suggest to you Sir that these two British citizens should be investigated and charged with the offense of criminal trespass to my property and conspiracy with those who instructed, engaged or facilitated them to commit public mischief,” Linton charged Police Chief Daniel Carbon. “This is a labour party conspiracy against Lennox Linton.”
The opposition leader the UWP has written to the president on September 30 and will be following up on the letter. He added the party will have a meeting with President Savarin as soon as they obtain more evidence on the matter. “He says once he sees the evidence he will be willing to facilitate a sit-down meeting with us and hopefully to engage with the government on what’s going down,” he said of His Excellency Charles Savarin.
A copy of the letter, he said, has been forwarded to the British High Commissioner for necessary action.
