Marigot Rep, Anthony Charles, Wants Community Projects for Truckers & Residents
Anthony Charles – the parliamentary representative for Marigot – lamented the dearth of employment engagements for truckers and other residents in his constituency. He expressed concerns that enough community projects are not alloted to Marigot and that this is affecting the economic bouyancy of the people.
According to Charles, heavy equipment operators and truckers among other eligible workers are supposed to benefit from certain road projects and other community initiatives, but this is not the case. He said it is unthinkable that eligible contractors and workers are locked out of employment opportunities happening within their own areas and communities.
The Marigot representative expressed sadness that in cases where the people of his constituency take it upon themselves to repair their damaged roads or fix other major degradations, they are not adequately supported for their efforts. He stated that there should be an equitable distribution of resources and economic resources in the community.
While emphasizing that more infrastructural development need to come to Marigot, Charles stated that fair and inclusive growth should be experienced by everyone in the community. He said he wants more employment opportunities, infrastructural development, sustainable growth, and representative governance to be channeled to this constituency in record time.
