Mark Joseph and Chelsey Linton are two Dominicans who have made the country proud with their excellent results in American universities. Joseph graduated from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) with top grades in Biochemistry, and Linton graduated from Missouri State University (MSU) in Accounting.
Linton emerged the first student-athlete of the Marigot Development Corporation (MDS) US Study Program. Following an excellent performance at Essex County College as a heptathlete, she was recruited by the MSU on an athletic scholarship. She commenced her athletics career at the Wills Strathmore Stevens School before proceeding to the North East Comprehensive School. She got an associate degree in Essex County before moving on to MSU.
According to UMES, Joseph graduated with the highest honours in Biochemistry, amidst several other credits in related endeavours. Earlier this year, he won the American Chemical Society award. As a member of the Richard A. Henson Program, he completed 45 credit hours of honour classes which is way above the 24 credit hours required for students.
Joseph worked in the lab of Dr. Anand Dhekeny, an associate professor of genetics and plant breeding, to optimize genome editing system required to create plants that naturally repel insects. He further plans to work with medical doctors and volunteer as a nursing home volunteer in preparation for his medical school entrance examination.
