Melissa Poponne-Skerrit Hands Over City Breeze Apartments to 51 Roseau Families
The parliamentary representative of the Roseau Central Constituency, Melissa Poponne-Skerrit, has handed over 51 new apartments to families in Roseau. Tagged “City Breeze Apartments,” the 1-3 bedroom apartments were constructed at the Upper River Bank area of the city. Facilities for arts and craft, technology, and commercial business centres were also constructed as part of the buildings.
The contractor, MMCE, said the apartments are bigger and designed tastefully, and that the buildings housing the apartments were engineered to withstand a Category 5 hurricane. Poponne-Skerrit congratulated the recipients, saying hundreds of families lobbied to possess the housing units, but only the most deserving won them.
The parl-rep said she is close to members of her constituency and understands their most private needs. She posited that she has first-hand knowledge of economic and welfare issues confronting the peoples of Roseau Central, and that the new apartments would go a long way to alleviating some of their housing problems permanently.
She also revealed that the Skerrit-led administration has refurbished dozens of private homes in Roseau for senior citizens, and that a second housing complex will be constructed in the next few months at the promenade near River Bank.
Not only will this boost our housing stock and improve the socio-economic conditions of more of our constituents, but it will further beautify the area and will help fulfill our vision for the enhancement and beautification of the City of Roseau.
