Michael Lewis Charged For Murder of Wilson Wade; Denied Bail

Michael Lewis, 24, has been denied bail following a murder charge at the magistrate court. Lewis is charged with the murder of 25-year-old Wilson Wade and attempted murder of Sylvester Aabib, 37, and Dylan Francis, 29.

Lewis allegedly shot at the three men on September 19 in Glasgow, Fond Cole, and they were all rushed to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) where Wade succumbed to his injuries.

According to Acting Inspector Fixton Henderson, the trio of Wade, Aabib, and Francis were seated at a culvert when Lewis approached and shot them. He was subsequently arrested and arraigned before Magistrate Michael Laudat who turned down the bail application of Lewis’ attorney, Wayne Norde.

Laudat reminded Norde of Section 7(1) of the Bail Act which states that “bail is denied where a defendant is charged with an offence of murder, treason, drug trafficking…” Lewis was subsequently remanded in prison custody while the case was adjourned to September 28, 2022.

All the parties to the case are from Fond Cole.

In a related development, the police have charged Quincy Bruce of Soufriere and Sigmund Darroux of Bellevue for financial frauds. Darroux was caught on surveillance cameras without $13,900 from the NCCU ATM machine at Cork Street in Roseau on September 21. He pleaded guilty to the charge.

Both Darroux and Bruce were found to have 8 H&M cards on them on that fateful day. While Bruce pleaded not guilty to withdrawing from the NCCU ATM machine on September 21, he was arraigned at the magistrate court in Roseau in July on charges of theft and possessing magnetic stripe cards. He was accused of stealing $47,600 from a NCCU ATM machine from June 3-16 and also another $1,900 from another machine on June 28, 2022.
