Minister Gives Timeline for Completion of Roseau Housing Development Plan
The Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Reginald Austrie, has given the timeline for the completion of the Roseau Housing Development Plan. The minister said construction work will commence this January for the first phase, and the second phase might commence around April with timeline for completion estimated to last 1-2 years.
According to the housing minister, the Upper River Bank area is one of the areas for the construction and occupiers of the property are being relocated at the moment. He said construction will commence before the end of January, with plans to construct two buildings of 5 storeys first.
The two buildings will house a total of 52 2-bedroom units – 26 each in each building – and eight 3-bedroom units. This will provide a total of 60 housing units for the Upper River Bank project. The first building is estimated to be completed within one year, and the second building is estimated to be completed within one year and six months.
Austrie further revealed that the Riverside and Roseau City Square Housing Development Plan will commence by April and is expected to be completed within one year to 16 months. He said this project will involve the construction of two 3-storey buildings with 22 bedrooms on each building to yeild a total of 44 bedrooms. Four additional 3-bedroom units are also in the works.
The minister also disclosed that 16 units will be constructed for business owners to make a living for their families. Such business owners include hairdressers, tailors, retailers and other entrepreneurs.
