Ministry of Education Prepares for Annual Grade 6 National Assessment
The Ministry of Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training, and National Excellence in Dominica has announced the upcoming annual Grade 6 National Assessment (G6NA), scheduled for Thursday, May 23, and Friday, May 24, 2024. The exams will begin at 7:45 a.m. on both days.
A total of 835 students, including 412 girls and 423 boys, will participate in the assessments, which will be held at 60 centers across the island. The Ministry has emphasized the continuation of the online administration of these national assessments.
On the first day of the exams, students will take the Language Arts and Social Sciences papers, with the Language Arts paper including a written composition component. On the second day, students will sit for the Mathematics and Science and Technology papers.
To ensure the successful execution of the exams, the Ministry has collaborated closely with educators, administrators, and technology partners. This preparation has involved comprehensive training for all involved, implementation of best practices, and conducting practice test runs. The goal is to ensure both students and educators are well-prepared to handle the online testing environment effectively.
The Ministry has advised parents and others not directly involved with the exams to avoid entering the compounds of any testing centers while exams are in progress. Parents are also encouraged to provide their children with some relaxation time in the days leading up to the assessments to help them perform their best.
In addition to organizing the logistics of the exams, the Ministry has expressed its enthusiasm for the online format and its benefits. This includes the ability to manage the testing process more efficiently and provide a more streamlined experience for students.
The Ministry of Education extends its best wishes to all Grade 6 students for their upcoming assessments. It remains committed to ensuring a smooth and effective examination process and looks forward to completing the G6NA.
