Monell Williams-Jno Baptiste Outlines Plans for St. Joseph during UWP Launch

Monell Williams-Jno Baptiste has been launched as the UWP candidate for the St. Joseph constituency. She spoke to a large gathering of party supporters who convened for the UWP Mega Rally in St. Joseph during the weekend, outlining her plans for the constituency under the UWP administration.

According to Monell Baptiste, part of her plans for the constituency include:

  • Creating three new municipal districts – Grand Bay, Marigot, and St. Joseph
  • Upgrading the St. Joseph Health Centre to a full-service medical hospital
  • Construction of a fire and ambulance service station
  • Establishment of French/English-Creole liason offices in Martinique, Guadeloupe, and Antigua
  • Facilitation of air and sea travel to boost the trade and tourism sectors
  • Construction of a modern police station in the constituency
  • Upgrading the basketball court into a full-fledged sports complex
  • Repairing the St. Joseph playing field to enable international cricket and football activities
  • A seaport fully manned by customs and immigration officers for commercial businesses, fully retrofitted for a sea-plane landing
  • Establishment of new market plaza to be named after CJ Ferreira, a top community farmer
  • Emphasizing the St. Joseph religious feast to portray a reflective community experience
  • Installing a life-size monument of Jeff Joseph at Jeff Joe square at the centre of the community
  • Construction of public building to house a post office, ATM machines, and sub-treasury

The UWP candidate who spoke in glowing terms to party supporters systematically broke down all she plans to achieve if elected and the UWP end up winning the December 6 general election. She vowed that many of these promises will be initiated within the first 18 months of a new UWP government, adding that “these infrastructural amenities will help to greatly enhance the aesthetics of the community.”
