A transporter, Anton Joseph of Grand Fond, has acciddentally hit and killed Elouis Augustus Durand of Good Hope, in Pond Casse. The unfortunate incident happened at 8:30 pm on Friday, September 25 when Joseph drove his bus in the eastern direction in Pond Casse.
The motorist said his Toyota bus hit an object which he did not see or know what it was at that time of the night. He reported that he stopped the vehicle and searched the surrounding vicinity before eventually locating the body of a man whom was later identified as 54-year-old Durand.
The injured man was moved to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital where a medical doctor pronounced him dead. The body of Durand was taken to the Lyndhurst Funeral Home where an autopsy will be performed on him. The police have commenced investigation into the incident.
In another related incident in Pond Casse, two vehicles had a head-on collision before veering off into the bush on Sunday, September 27. The fatal crash involved a Toyota Noah and a HRV Honda. The Honda was operated by a foreign national who sustained bruises to his arm and face.
The driver of the Toyota and his condition remained unknown as at the time of filing this report. The police have however commenced an investigation into the incident.
