National Leaders Re-Dedicate Dominica Back To God

The Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs, Family and Gender Affairs organized a ceremony re-dedicating the country back to God at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium. The theme of the programme was “A Call to Repentance: To Love and Serve God”.

In attendance at the event were the President Charles Savarin, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, Opposition Leader Lennox Linton, members of parliament, Pastor Jodi Andrew of SALT Ministries, Pastor Petterson Benjamin, and several notable personalities in Dominica.

While speaking to the audience, His Excellency Charles Savarin, encouraged everyone to take the country’s motto “Apres Bondie C’est La Tere” which in Creole means “After God is the Earth” to heart. He begged all citizens to love and serve God since that is the best way to serve humanity.

“As President of this blessed land, and on behalf of all of the people of Dominica, at home and abroad, I rededicate the Commonwealth of Dominica to our creator, declaring and believing that this nation is fully and will be forever dedicated to the Lord,” the president said while praying for the people and the nation. “May God continue to bless, preserve and protect this nation and its people now and forever.”

The president re-dedicated the country to God, praying for God to forgive the people their sins and restore the nation on the path of righteousness.

Minister for Ecclesiastical, Family and Gender Affairs, Catherine Daniel, said the re-dedication is a necessary step for calling citizens back to repentance and communal love. Pastor Jodi Andrew of Salt Ministries urged everyone to love themselves because God is love. She encouraged the people to treat others with respect and absolute dedication.

“I am submitting to you today that there is room for all – room for all to prosper, room for all to increase. I do not need to tear you down so that I can get up. It’s my duty; it’s my obligation to hold your hand and to lift you up,” Pastor Andrew said.

Pastor Petterson Benjamin in his closing prayers prayed especially for all national leaders and laid hands on President Savarin, PM Skerrit and Opposition Leader Linton.

This is the second time Dominica as a country would be re-dedicated back to God. The first time it was done was 15 years ago in April 2004.
