National Security Minister Commends Outgoing Chief, Welcomes Valerie as Interim

Davidson Valerie has been confirmed to take over as the acting Chief of Police from January 1, 2024, for a three-month term. This announcement comes as the current Chief of Police, Daniel Carbon, is set to begin his pre-retirement leave at the end of 2023.

The decision, made public by National Security Minister Rayburn Blackmoore, marks a significant change in the police force’s leadership. Minister Blackmoore lauded Carbon for his 39 years of dedicated service, calling him a “national hero” who led the force through challenging times.

Valerie, praised for his intelligence and investigatory expertise, will assume the responsibilities as the nation heads into the New Year. Meanwhile, Lincoln Corbette, the Deputy Chief of Police, will continue in his substantive role. Corbette, who previously acted in Carbon’s absence for over a year, will now work alongside Valerie to maintain stability within the force.
