The National Bank of Dominica (NBD) and Greens Wholesale are sponsoring Savahnn James to win the Miss Dominica 2020 title. James is a staff of the bank, and was sashed at the media conference put together by the Dominica Festivals Committee.
Suzanne Piper, executive marketing manager at NBD, said the bank endorsed the candidacy of James because her “Sustainable Living Through Renewable Energy” campaign is in line with NBD’s efforts at sustainable living.
“Savahnn is an employee of NBD, so we are very familiar with the person that she is, and the kind of work ethic which she espouses,” Piper said. “We know that she is a very determined person and she can succeed in anything she puts her mind to. Sustainable living is something that resonated very strongly with us at NBD. The management, staff of NBD fully supports Savahnn in her quest for the Miss Dominica title and we are very confident that she can be successful.”
Kim Elie of Greens Wholesale said her firm is happy to identify with James given that she passed a rigorous requirement for sponsorship.
“She worked hard and did what she needed to do to get the type of representation or sponsorship she required for this year’s pageant,” Elie said. “So we commend her on that, we congratulate her for deciding to participate in this year’s carnival [pageant] and we are also very privileged and happy to do the same as her co-sponsor.”
James on her own part thanked her sponsors, saying she is glad to have their support.
Out of the total seven contestants, four have secured sponsors at the moment. These are Shanon St. Hilaire who is sponsored Jungle Bay Resorts and Spa, Kimra Charles who is sponsored by Maxroy Trading Ltd., and Primrose David who is sponsored by Preconco Ltd., and lately Savahnn James by the duo of NBD and Greens Wholesale.
